Sabari Paramasivan An Influencer
This is Sabari Paramasivan, a software engineer by profession and a story narrator by passion. I run a professional storytelling platform – APPLEBOX, which functions as an educational YouTube Channel with 4.6 lakhs subscribers and as an interactive story club.
Although the platform was started in 2019, it holds up a big story of my passion and dreams for a decade. And today, I am going to share with you that inspirational story. C’mon. Let’s get into the flashback.
It was in 2001, when I participated in an inter school writing competition and bagged the first prize in it. That accidental success motivated me to continue writing more. I was so happy with my write ups and so the stories started piling up. But at one point of time, I understood that I had not yet found my audience. I mean the set of audience who would read those, appreciate or criticize.
So I started searching for a platform to publish my articles and to make them reach a larger circle. Options like Newspapers, Magazines and FM Radio Stations were only available at that time and so I made my trial in all of them. There was no ray of hope. Even after improving my style of writing and repeatedly trying out, the response was very poor. So, this pushed me to search for a few more options. As I was introduced to the internet by then, I got to know about blogs and SoundCloud. Hurray, a blog and a SoundCloud track were immediately started. But reaching people ? That was still a challenge. To be frank, no one showed up. But I continued trying, trying and trying.
Years rolled on. And I had finished my studies, joined a job, got married and became a mother. But my dream of becoming a renowned writer and storyteller never came true. Meanwhile, in this repeated circle of failure, there was something pushing me to try again and again. That “something” is nothing other than “passion”. That something gave me another option to try again. And that option is “YOUTUBE”.
Yes, I started a youtube channel in which I kept narrating my own short stories, essays and motivational stories. Also some stories from Tamil Literature and History, from my personal favorites. Gradually, it developed into many story based educational videos.
Though the initial response was very poor, that small number of initial viewers generously encouraged me. Their kind words motivated me and their interest in my videos, made the channel get more of the spotlight. With this, I got enthusiastic and continued creating more of what my viewers asked for and more of what I loved doing.
There is a common saying that “Success comes with perseverance and lessons from the past failures”. That’s really true in my case. All my failures turned into a grand success, one day. And that success is named “APPLEBOX”.
Yes, APPLEBOX is the name of my youtube channel which is now a registered story brand running with the support of 4.6 lakhs of beautiful hearts. Also, it functions as a Story Club, Quiz Club and a Stipend Program. And, I am all set to release my first motivational book “Chimney Koodu” in June 2022 and “Sabari’s One Sided Stories” in September 2022.
Though, it seems like all of these happened because of my continuous efforts, I owe this success to consistent learning and my sensible audience.
