Born in a middle-class Indian family, I was the youngest of the lot. At the age of 1.5 years, I was moved out of the joint family and brought into a nuclear family of 4. And since then, loneliness became my best friend. My sister was also 11 years elder and practically the third parent. Born as a second child to my parents, the ordinals got a little different impact on my planetary positions. Second treatment somehow got linked to my stars. I was the second-best friend of my first best friend, always stood second in class- the first being my best friend (she was my first you see). I stood second in sports, sometimes third even, was the second girlfriend of my first love, studied English in graduation which was my second preference and so on and so forth. The word second became so intriguing that in the first hour of every day, I started looking for a second life, a life which was fairer.
I was not allowed to go out and play in the evening, so very soon in my life I learnt that I am my only best friend. I was born at a time and in a family where my choice was lesser important than the choice of the society. As girls are compared to water which can take shape according to vessel, so did I. I dreaded English, that’s how any love story begins isn’t it? And then Literature washed all my pain away and I fell in love with books. I wanted to continue my love story even after graduation, but reality slapped hard and I found myself in a renowned BPO as I needed to take care of the home finances. Post joining the corporate world, I learnt life still had to show the tricks of the ordinals. Unfair treatments, undue advantages everything became a part of my life of 24 years- strange that was also divisible by 2. Everything was new for me but all I had in my heart is- “Make Your Mark”. From an advisor to a trainer then to a manager, I kept on making my mark. It took me 10 years of toil and 2 jobs to understand I was meant for bigger things and better people. Hence, started my journey towards Entrepreneurship.
My first venture was completely into training partnering with another likeminded individual. It was catering to Training however practically I learnt and took care of everything – starting from finance to digital marketing to social media and web designing. And when we were reaching heights, the pandemic crashed our business down. Yes, the business, not me. Because by then I have started acknowledging my life’s calling- to be a healer and make this world a better place. The more I dealt with various mental health issues in the last few years, it was clear that people still suffer silently and choose not to share their problems. And surprisingly, about 9/10 are suffering due to one or the other mental health issues, with no one to talk to. They either do not know whom to approach or thinks that they will be given medicines or are sceptical that they will be called “lunatic”. With the zeal to break this taboo associated with mental health and reach out to more people and demystify mental well-being, I started Deestha Foundation in May 2020. Perhaps, as she herself had a first-hand experience of all the major mental health ailments, she knew that holistic non-medicinal healing is the need of the hour and “one size fits all” approach will not work. Hence while I provide counselling and psychotherapy, I also provides mudra and aroma therapy, reiki, meditation, PLRT, sound healing, expressive art therapy, Colour Therapy, Hypnotherapy and many more. I deal with a huge array of
issues ranging from Teenage to Old age, Family to Relationships, Depression, Anxiety, and Drug and Suicidal cases. Along with these, she also continues to facilitate leadership, communication and self-developmental trainings, which has always been my forte.
By now, we have touched over 8000 people worldwide, reinstated many lives and helped people regain the strength to smile. And you know what is my greatest success? One of my patients who was suffering from depression and suicidal tendencies is now partnering with me in Deestha Foundation.
Hence, I would say, never stop learning and never give up! Keep reinventing yourself every day and shape your life the way you want. After all, you, and no one else, should be the script writer of your life.
